1. What was your final score in 2U Maths and in which year did you finish the HSC? What was your overall ATAR?
My final score for 2U Maths was 98. I achieved this in year 11 through an accelerated pathway. I am currently in Year 12, completing my HSC for my remaining subjects; Advanced English, SOR II, PDHPE, Legal Studies, and Extension 1 Maths. I recently achieved top 3 placings in all my subjects at my half-yearly report.
2. What are some of the top tips you can give students to do well in their internal assessments?
Internal assessments is all about ranks and the gaps between ranks. Ideally you want to be high up in a cohort that is competitive with each other. To do this, you need practice papers. LOTS and LOTS of practice papers. With maths, practice is key, and you can never do too much. Do them under timed exam conditions, know your formulas, and make sure you ask for help when you need it.
3. What are some of the top tips you can give students to do well in the final exam?
Achieving not just on an individual level but as a cohort is so crucial. My class worked together constantly, helping each other with questions, sending them to our group chat, teaching each other content we didn’t know, studying together, and creating an environment of collaboration and teamwork. As a result, in this class of about 20 students, 10 of them received Band 6’s, with 3 students scoring 99’s. The HSC scoring system works in favour of those who have a competitive and high-scoring cohort, so lift each other up and you’ll be benefitted.
4. If you are more of a humanities-oriented person, can you still do well in 2U Maths?
Yes!! I am definitely more of a humanities-oriented person and I was stoked with my Maths result. Maths is all about hard work and training your brain through repetition to think a certain way, so really any student who is inclined in any field can achieve in maths with hard work and dedication.
